Reimagining Ultimate Thor

I realize that reimagining a character that’s a reimagining of an already long established character is, at best, preposterous. However, as I was compiling some blog content over the holiday weekend I was reminded of a conversation that @slim and I had about how I thought they should have done Ultimate Thor…

Jake Olsen is a young mutant sent to Charles Xavier’s school for the gifted after a feat of superhuman strength. As his time at the school goes on, he starts demonstrating other amazing powers that seem to mimic the X-men: Storm’s control of the weather, Colossus’ strength, Wolverine’s senses, etc… Jake is the most rare mutant in the world, a power mimic… Or is he?

The Brotherhood kidnaps this young man in hopes of exploiting his DNA to allow other mutants to use this rare ability. As Magneto begins his experiments, the lights dim, power goes out, and suddenly a light rain begins to fall from the sky. Jake’s eyes flutter open and utters one phrase ‘To… Me…’

Suddenly there is a distant thunderclap and the hammer Mjolnir smashes into the room, summoned by its master, Thor.

I think this blurb could have been a real good story if it was fleshed out a little. This can exist as an alternate ending to the tomorrow people, and could catalog Thor’s exploits as an X-man.

To over the top? Thoughts?

Posted on the road.
